Presentation: Intel Digital Home Update (PDF - 4MB)
Description: According to the Intel Digital Home Group:
"A fundamental change is happening with entertainment — it's going digital. People now receive digital entertainment on multiple form factors throughout their homes and while they're on the go. This presents huge opportunities for content producers and distributors, as did the introduction of radio, movies, television, cable TV, VHS and DVD players. Content producers now have more creative freedom: they can make digital films that run anywhere from one minute to several days; digital music and games can break out in new directions. Digital distribution models deliver the content people want — anytime, anywhere."

Bill Leszinske is the Director of Consumer Client Marketing and Product Planning for Intel's Digital Home Group. He has an extensive background in sales and marketing positions at Intel. In 2004, Bill initiated the Digital Home Marketing team within Desktop Platforms Group. Mr. Stanley Huang is the Director of Marketing and Technical Services for Intel's Asia Pacific operations. Mr. Huang joined Intel in 1990 as the Regional Marketing Manager for the Asia Pacific Region. He became Taiwan Country Manager in January 1995, and was promoted to Director of Marketing and Business Management in December 1996. His responsibilities were expanded to include all technical services in May 2001.

We have all participated in the digital evolution of the familiar appliances around us — including television, camera, telephone, internet, music players, gaming devices and security devices. The advent of broadband and pervasive networking have extended the network and the Internet into our homes. Wireless networking bridges the last meter — connecting us on the move and allowing us constant access to media from the personal devices we carry with us.

The digital home is built on a vision of the home computer delivering rich entertainment and interactive multimedia content from the Internet and from our personal media libraries to our fingertips, whether we are at home, at work or on the go. The Digital Home delivers the computer functions we already know as well as allowing users to access and transfer digital content between multimedia devices from inside or outside the home. In addition to delivering digital content and services over wired and wireless networks, the Digital Home will importantly integrate different devices and media.

For technology providers, delivering the Digital Home presents the challenge of marrying hardware and software to overcome interoperability issues. Marketing must present compelling reasons for consumers to upgrade systems and devices including video and audio entertainment centers. High Definition Television (HDTV) and plasma screens present attractive replacements for television, while consumers want to know how to upgrade to the Digital Home with maximum benefit at minimal cost.

Taiwan offers the ideal environment to test the Digital Home. Innovative technology pioneers, mature high speed network, sophisticated consumers and a limited market size provide all the elements to test and launch new products and measure consumer acceptability.

As a pioneer of the Digital Home our speakers from Intel will — as Computex unfolds — share rare insights into emerging products, services and strategies as the Digital Home comes into ever clearer focus. Intel's presentation may include a live demonstration and a showcase tour.
