| Topic: | Voice-over-Internet in Asia |
| Speaker: | Tim Lauer - Managing Director / APAC Ventures |
| Description: |
Consumer Voice-over-Internet (VoIP) applications have been available for many years. However, due to the dynamic changes in the raw, unmanaged Internet, delivering consistent voice quality that is acceptable for use within the enterprise or professional organization, has been challenging. In recent years, solutions have been developed which allow enterprise grade voice quality to be delivered over the Internet. These solutions have been proven to be cost effective and complement existing and new networks. This presentation will address the challenges of delivering quality voice over the unmanaged Internet, presenting cases of how several companies across Asia and the rest of the world are using Voice-over-Internet to complement existing legacy and next generation IP telephony networks, and discuss the business reasons that make Voice-over-Internet a viable option for use within the enterprise, government, education, emergency services, and many other segments that depend on high quality voice communication. Tim Lauer has been actively promoting new technologies in the IT industry in Asia and in the US over the past 10 years. |
